The USSR would span its territories in the 80s but be led by a competent Marxist leninist party. Same for the Warsaw pact countries and Yugoslavia. These were caused by revolutions popping up all across the globe and other areas.

The US choice would have itself devolve into chaos while its power and influence decreases. Infighting would break the US into pieces but territories like hawaii and alaska would gain independence. The main government would be torn asunder and the CIA rogue and unfunded.

Collapse of the US. I don’t want the US throwing a fit and starting a nuclear war at the end of its existence. My reasoning is roughly as follows:

    1. There already were instances in the past when a nuclear exchange between the USSR and US was a real possibility.
    2. These instances occurred when the US was in a much less desperate state. Their attempts at coups were more effective, standards of living within its borders were better, their industry wasn’t outsourced to other countries, etc.
    3. The slow decay of the US and its descent to fascism makes a nuclear war much more likely. A cornered beast may behave completely erratically, especially with fascists commanding it.
    4. If Americans have no say in whether they get health care or not, they won’t get a final say in whether nuclear weapons will be used or not.

Wiping ourselves out and completely squandering all of the legacy we’ve inherited from thousands of years of evolution and historic development is arguably one of the worst things we can do as a species, so I’m choosing an option that avoids a real threat we’re still facing now.

Not to mention without the US, Israel won’t have much of a leg to stand on for very long. Also Cuba could finally be free to openly trade with the world again. I feel communism would make a strong comeback in the world once the US imperialist boots are no longer there to stop it.
