Donald Trump has suggested large numbers of Palestinians should leave Gaza to “just clean out” the whole strip, after ordering the US military to restart shipments of 2,000lb bombs to Israel.

The US president said he wanted Gaza residents to move to neighbouring nations, and that they could be displaced “temporarily or could be long-term”, after a phone call with Jordan’s King Abdullah on Saturday.

“I said to him: I’d love you to take on more because I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess. I’d like him to take people,” Trump said, when asked about the call.

He also suggested Egypt as a destination for Gaza residents, and said he would raise the issue with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Sunday.

      Answer the question.

And stop putting words in my mouth. I never said Trump had any power in Israel either.

Neither Trump nor Biden controls bombs in Gaza. You do have a point that it would have been the moral choice to take a stand. My point is that it wouldn’t have made a difference in reality. I’m not happy about that but it doesn’t change the reality.

Then you’re ignorant of both history and geopolitics.

Israel is a client state, full stop, of the US. Reagan made one phone call and ended the war in Lebanon.

In fact, Israel institutionally, does not know how to end wars, because they’ve never done it. The US has always ended their wars for them.

Israel has received a full third of all foreign aid the US has ever given out. It isn’t a state on it’s own. It ceases to exist and will go bankrupt almost immediately without the US.

Your whole ‘Biden couldn’t force them to stop’ schtick is either bad faith or ignorance of every aspect of the history of that region.

There is a reason that Trump didn’t stop foreign aid to Israel and Egypt when he froze it everywhere else. Neither state would continue to exist if he hadn’t.
