@usa Mexican president reveals U.S. concession Trump failed to mention as tariffs paused

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo issued a “read-out” of her call with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday — but her list of what the two leaders agreed to is different from his in one major respect: guns.
Washington Post staff writer Meryl Kornfield pointed out on X that in Sheinbaum’s list of things the U.S. had committed to do is stop the flow of guns into Mexico.
Is that what the second amendment says? I thought it was the right of citizens to bear arms.
Not sure how that would be related to sending the guns to Mexico?
Also, not an American and clearly not a constitutional lawyer…
@alexc It’s citizens that bring those Guns into Mexico. It’s legal to do so until they’ve crossed into Mexico. So in theory if we see you on the US side of the border heading into Mexico with a nominally legal weapon, we’re not suppose to stop you.
Trump essentially promised that this would change. Which is a pretty big deal as that’s how a lot of guns come into Mexico for the Cartels.
I didn’t realize that was possible…
@alexc To cross the border with a gun?
The Canadian border (where I live) has signs literally everywhere stating you cannot cross the border with a gun. I just assumed it was the same everywhere. Color me stupid…
@alexc Yes but the US doesn’t prevent you from that and won’t jail you for that. Canada enforces that law.
Even if that’s the case, a sign alone ain’t gonna do shit.
