If you’re against people individually owning chickens for eggs are you also against owning cats and dogs?

Are you just against the existence of chickens? Genuinely I do not understand this take, household chicken ownership is like, the most ethical way for chickens to exist.

Online leftists are so concerned with doing no wrong that they instead do no good. Yes, it is a bit exploitative to own modern chickens bred to produce ridiculous amounts of eggs at detriment to their body.

It’s also exploitative for humans to exist beyond very early pre-civilization states as any use of natural resources and metals represents a theft from the Earth that will never be restored in that humans lifespan.

But i can, and have, used those eggs to ease human suffering at a homeless shelter. I’ve used SPAM (yes, it’s horrific, I understand and agree. To say otherwise is missing the point) to the same effect.

Yes, using animal products is anti-communist at its core principle.

So is letting people starve in the street.

That’s not to jump on a slippery slope where the ends justify the means. But to be so concerned with well intentioned folks that treat animals with care whenever possible, while leftists are out there every day having to hide their actions and act in secrecy just to help folks…. I dunno.

        • projection Bro you’re a pro-vegan reactionary. Are you against animal abuse and exploitation? How does opposing personal ownership of well cared for chickens prevent abuse or exploitation?

You don’t care about animals, you’re just a reactionary lashing out at the concept of animal agriculture.

The “personal ownership” is already commodifying the animal, and the “well cared for” part is bullshit, chickens kept for laying can not be well cared for by definition, as the modern breeds are literally slowly killing themselves through nutrient depletion. Such chickens can only thrive if they for example are stopped from laying (e.g. with hormonal implants), which negates the very reason a person like that would keep them. Then, the very motive for keeping the animals in the first place will eventually drive a small scale farmer to compromise on the conditions, because keeping animals alive is not cheap in on itself.

And don’t give me this shit about “not caring about animals” and “lashing out”, you literally wrote the most stereotypical anti-vegan slop just because I said people should eat beans rather than commodify animals

I wouldn’t call what they did “migration” since they weren’t even banned from reddit-logo or anything, it was more like they were invited in and broke a longstanding peace by engaging in a harassment campaign against long time users (some of whom left because of this and never came back) over a weekend that all the mods decided to either collectively logout or those that were there decided to look the other way

What are you even talking about, “long standing peace” and “harassment campaigns”? They started posting eating memes about dogs and local scratched anti-vegans tried to turn it into an anti-asian hate thing when there was no such element there at all. That was the “campaign”. It’s like calling out people who post cracker memes for doing “harassment campaigns”
