On September 1, 2023, the domains registry for .COM and .XYZ will implement universal price increases of up to 9% for .COM renewals, and up to 9% for .XYZ renewals, registrations, and transfers.
Let’s see here… $14/year * 9℅ = roughly $1.25.
BREAKING NEWS Namecheap raises price $1.25 / year
Unless im missing something big. I’m not thrilled, but I’m also not that concerned as long as trends remain intact. I only have a dozen or so sites and a few just for email.
You know you’re on lemmy when “a few dozen or so sites” + “a few just for email” is preceded by the word “only”
I didn’t share this to complain of Namecheap increasing the price, rather to share the information. If anything the problem lies with ICANN and Verisign raising their price for no good reason. Captive audience and all that.
I meant to sound funny, but re-reading my comment ringed of sarcasm. Just poking fun 🙂
