I mean, the tactical battles are fun, but deep into final act, they become prolonged and tiresome to a point I stopped really bothering and instead focus on a story. Especially enemies getting anywhere from 2 to four actions per turn, that is really asinine if you have party where everyone has 1+1 actions.

Kudos to all of you that endure, you are real mvps and enjoy the game

So were you shamed by someone for doing this? Or maybe you’re projecting that you think people would shame you for doing this?

Why is it that gamers who play at lower difficulty levels need to tell people about it in a manner that acts like it’s some sort of “against the grain/unpopular opinion” thinking?

    Jurassic park meme:

This guy over here doesn’t want to be challenged by the game’s combat system!

Games are for entertainment, if you’re entertained then do what you wanna do. I save scum all the time because, no, I don’t wanna blow up because I failed a check on a trapped chest. Godspeed!

I see it this way: I could reload after every failed roll, and knowing me, I would too, but the only difference between that and using the no-inspiration-cost mod is that I lose minutes of my life time on every load without any upside, so mods it is.

The best part of DnD is you can play your way and Larian seems to have embraced that. My tabletop group is pretty much pure homebrew at this point and it’s a ton of fun.

Your party has ascended to another plane and are unstoppable! :)

I totally understand. This game is pretty old school when it comes to the difficulty curve, and with the huge number of character options, it’s really easy to end up with a seriously sub-optimal party without knowing.

Also, the difficulty is all over the place early on because the game has no idea where you’re going to go, but the encounters don’t scale. Depending on how you wander around, there are a number of encounters early on that will definitely wipe a first level party, especially if you still only control 2 characters. Bandits in the ruins, I’m looking at you.

If you like tactical play, I would suggest simply starting a new play through after you get some experience. You’ll be surprised how easy this game is once you know what you’re doing.

I feel you, I didn’t finish the game because of one of the final fight I need to redo because I changed my mind on something. Just thinking about the 30 NPC that need to play every turns make me not wanting to do it lol.

It’s desperately needed. I was doing a battle with a metric fuckton of enemies, and I was screaming at the screen because I was so bored waiting to finally get a turn.

I don’t mind turn-based, but I do mind it when waiting for my turn takes so long I start playing a mobile game on my phone to pass the time.

I’ve been alt-tabbing out to shitpost in-between large groups of enemies. In fact, I’m alt-tabbed out right now.

Play however you want but I find your statement on player vs encounter power solely based on actions to be reductive. The power is definitely tilted in the player’s favour this game.

Play however you enjoy it. Personally I want a good difficulty increasing mod because even on tactician it’s possible to ignore all the tools at your disposal other than healing potions.

I mean, ok? I’m playing on baby beginner mode because I don’t know wtf I’m doing and have never played DnD before and I’m terrible at tactical, overhead-style combat. You do you?

As someone who is terrible at turn based CRPGs, I’ve found the explorer mode to be just perfect for me. I hit a skillwall imediately after fort joy in DOS2 on the easiest setting, so I was really pleasantly surprised.

When you have the power to avoid the challenge then you will not care for the reward, and in this case the reward is the storyline. One week at best and you gonna drop the game.

Last I heard they turned the local cinema into a ball toss arcade where you dont get to see the movie unless you score above 80. /s
