I love it although granted Im mostly about the dropping out on consumerism. Really leaning into the reduce and reuse of the three R’s. I recycle despite it being rather obvious what I put in is likely going to the send endpoint as the regular garbage with maybe pulling some choice metals or such. I firmly expect the these actions are useless comments as I have been seeing them a lot but its not like what I do is based on social media unless its a new idea I have not thought of that gels with me. For some reason this comic makes me think of this rem song that I am not listening to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBS6N1k4FsQ

You can buy just as much shit, just buy it used. Keeps money in the pockets of your fellow consumer, saves stuff from ending up in the trash.

Just keeping tabs on who is doing what in govt makes you way more informed for elections. Speaking out for things you want to see/change can sway how things turn out.

Federal govt gets all the focus (especially lately) but for a lot of things state and local govt is where it’s at. For example marijuana is STILL illegal on a federal level but more and more states are fine with it. Gun laws seem to have had a lot of change on a state level too.

For my area local (city/township) govt runs fire, ems, small business initiatives, zoning and events. County govt runs minor road maintenance, emergency management, hazmat/drone stuff etc.

And state govt does a ton of major road work, big picture planning and lawmaking and will sometimes tell the federal govt to pound sand.

They’ve historically been a pretty good place. They’ve been pushing back against the removal of the DEI programs that the shareholders were wanting. You’ll find more instances of them being generally great in these dark times.

They have had many positive actions. Fighting an attempt from a minority of shareholders for them to stop dei in particular but the holding of the price of chickens and hotdogs make them popular to. Pretty decent with labor compared to their peers as well.

I wouldn’t say I support them but as far as big corporations that sell lots of shit you might need they are one of the better ones.

Better not to buy anything but if you need to…

Costco used to be a symbol of overconsumption and large scale consumerism. Now they are one of the few retail companies pushing back against the wave of anti-DEI.

Target in particular should have followed their example. their main thing in recent times is being both a walmart and a bit of an amazon alternative.

Target seemed to embrace minorities and LGBTQ, pushing products and creators and being visible about it. Turns out it was all corporate shenanigans and the pendulum is swinging back hard.
