I simultaneously posted the explanation as you asked. lol The halo is too bright as he tries to slumber.

I also thought he should’ve lost the halo as he uses God to damn the situation, but it’s just a comic so overthinking it isn’t warranted.

the saying about angels getting their halos is assumed to be a good thing, but in the comic the angels actually really don’t want a halo because it is very bright and makes it hard to sleep. Unless I’m missing another layer I think the tennis is just an arbitrary angelic recreational pass time that is known for having frustrated players break their rackets.

The angel is angry because someone did a good deed and he got a halo, but now when he goes to sleep at night, the halo glows so brightly that he can’t sleep. So doing a good deed and giving an angel their halo actually ended up being a bad thing for this particular angel.

If it gives off light, it must have mass of some sort to convert into light, which means he should be able to put a cover on it.

I can see a big business for light-proof halo covers up there. No money, but you’d have all the social clout for sure!

    Angels need sleep?

Wait, why is there a moon in heaven?

    What’s that lamp plugged into?
