The precise opposite is also true though; bans simply don’t work, period.

Yes, people should have the right to abortion. I think that there are some ethical issues surrounding things like sex-based abortions (which are a huge issue in Asian countries in particular), but that’s not really relevant to the US for the most part.

Yes, I support decriminalizing marijuana. And most drugs in general. I also support single-payer healthcare that would, among other things, make drug-addiction treatment available to anyone that wants it, since forced addiction treatment almost always fails, I also support other social programs–paid for with a highly progressive tax–that would reduce or eliminate most of the root causes for addiction.

I see no issues with drag shows. It’s not my thing, but I also don’t like hip-hop or historical romance films. So what? My preferences aren’t a rational basis for legal bans.

I think that immigration is complicated, mostly because we live in a capitalist society where the capital-owning class always seeks to reduce the value of labor in order to extract more value for themselves. Immigrants can usually be exploited to reduce labor costs, because undocumented migrants have very few legal protections against sub-minimum off-the-books wages or wage theft. I think that legal status and strong, universal labor unions would help with this, but I don’t know what the absolute solution would be.

You literally can not ban trans kids; kids are going to be transgender whether or not they’re permitted to express it. The entire idea of banning trans kids defies all logic and reason. At best you would be making trans children feel more isolated and alone, which would lead to higher rates of major mental illness and suicidality.

Banning dialogue on racism is a clear 1A violation.

Banning books by LGBTQ authors is a clear 1A violation, as is preventing minors from having access to them. You get into some grey area when it comes to pornography, but given that I could have checked out 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade from my local library as a minor, I don’t think most written works would realistically qualify as ‘lacking artistic or literary merit’.

    And, finally -

Yeah, I 100% oppose gun bans, magazine bans, feature bans, and so on. I think the National Firearms Act of 1934 should be repealed as a clear 2A violation. I oppose the parts of the Firearm Owners Protection Act that prevent the transfer of new machine guns to citizens and resident aliens. The claim for gun bans is that they prevent violence; that’s stupid. The way to prevent violence isn’t the elimination of the tools, but the elimination of the cause. Democrats want to ban the tools, but don’t seriously attempt to address the root issues even when they have a supermajority in a state (see also: MA, NJ, NY, CA, etc.). Republicans neither care about the tools nor the causes.

Literally every point made by OP is real and easy proven. You, on the other hand, have a made up list that is easy disproven over and over again.

Maybe you should try going outside?

Interesting as the same can be said disproving it. Fun.

So, go ahead. We are waiting, and as you say, it’ll be fun so there isn’t much stopping you.

          I apparently Have a list.

Yes, a made up one. We have already acknowledged that. Thank you for repeating it.

Also, as for you going outside and your electric apprenticeship, maybe try to stop licking the lead solder. It’ll help with your thinking.

And if you’re making terrible money, you are either a first year or getting badly ripped off. It was explicitly mentioned about that issue when I was in trade school of too many people making big bucks in their 2nd+ year and quickly out spending their means, from the shock of suddenly getting big paychecks.

How many hours a day do you spend in an echo chamber getting your talking points?

Are you getting paid for your boot licking?

When did your brain start shutting off and begin reflexively regurgitating their propaganda?

I think people like yourself are a lost cause, because no amount of factual information and critical reasoning seems to be effective against your highly effective programming. Do you envision any methods that could be used to deprogram your psychological state such that you can begin to critically reason and seek out objective facts?

I await your response laden with logical fallacies, puking the catch phrases from your "news " sources, and whatever today’s flavor of disinformation meme was shared in your echo chamber of choice.

That’s a good bootlicker - you provided more proof of my claims.

I knew you couldn’t resist committing a nice logical fallacy and avoid defending yourself in a rational debate. It’s just how your programming works.

You still can’t address any part of my claims with a logical response - the programming is holding up to stress testing.

Maybe somebody I’ll get lucky and find the input which produces critical thinking and rational response.

These sick liberals need to stop defining themselves with sex.

Have sex within your race! Have sex in a way that Harry Potter would approve! Have sex with underage mothers! Save your virginity for an old man in an authoritative position in your life!

And for the love of God Almighty, stop bringing up sex! Sex! SEX!!

      I got time, I’ll bite.

      Late term abortions

It’s “post-viability abortions”. It’s for already-dying fetuses and such. The name gives it away.

      White guilt

Sorry, can’t relate for many reasons

      Open borders

More of a conservative talking point than a core liberal tenet. See headline such as: Kamala gets ‘tough on border’

Men beating women in their own sport class

Your music’s bad and you should feel bad. Boo!

LGBTQ books mainly based on sexual inert course in schools

It’s intercourse. Are you trolling? And no, it’s about the history and legacy of the US through the lens of LGBT+ folks. Also, read a book, read a book, read a m’fuckin’ book.

Entire personality based on who you prefer to screw

As opposed to MAGA’s entire personality based on who gets to screw them over?

      White man bad

I mean… *motions broadly at history*

      Orange man really bad

Well… *motions broadly at dysfunctional US government*

Couldn’t load a gun if you handed them one

Shaddap you flunked your SATs and you can’t spell intercourse to save your life

You wrote “couldn’t load a gun if you handed them one”. That implies liberals don’t own guns. So the inverse is conservatives own guns.

Unless you mean even if they own a gun they still don’t know how to load it?

Explain, in detail please, what’s wrong with late term abortions?

If a woman has carried a child for over 8 months, isn’t that a demonstration of her desire to have that child? If her doctor advises her that carrying the child to full term is dangerous to her health, doesn’t she have the right to make that choice?

If a child is going to be born with severe problems that would cause the child to have a very short life full of pain and suffering, why shouldn’t the parents have that option?

This is a bad argument. If the child was carried to 8 months and there were complications, the doctors would induce birth and the child would go to the NICU and be fine.

My claim is that either way there isn’t an abortion. There would be an induced birth, and at 8 months, if the child doesn’t have a rare issue, it would go to the NICU.

Anybody calling an induced birth an abortion is either ignorant or arguing in bad faith.

If the child doesn’t have a rare issue

You changed your position. That’s okay!

Still, there are times when abortions make more sense from a health perspective. There are also times when induced birth makes more sense. Why ban a life saving procedure? No mother wants to have an abortion at that stage, so they would go with that latter option every time that they could.

But sometimes that’s too risky for the health of the mother. So instead of a dead baby, you have a dead baby and dead mother. If it’s banned, pregnancy becomes more dangerous for any mother

Have you ever talked to a medical professional about what really severe defects they’ve seen? Kids born with the heart on the outside of the body? Kids who have to be on opiates from birth because they are in pain all the time? Kids whose bones won’t grow, but the rest of them will, so they literally strangle themselves?

At best, you’re arguing from ignorance.

                Criticizes late-term abortions

Reacts viscerally to things that are real and legitimate reasons for late-term abortions

Clearly, they have no capacity for thinking critically, or they are farming responses. Don’t waste your time.

And MaXimus, if you really think those scenarios are horrible, then imagine how the parents feel about the opportunity of not allowing a child to suffer in those horrible ways.

99% of Right wing propaganda is “We have a right to our feelings and you don’t.”

In another thread I mentioned the Tulsa massacre. I was told that people shouldn’t be forced to feel guilty about things they had no control over. I asked if they felt they had a right to celebrate July 4th, because they had nothing to do with that either. No reply yet.

              To repeat.

People consider late term abortions because there are terrible complications that can arise.

If you think this is a lie, talk to any medical professional. Most student nurses or EMTs have seen some examples.

Banning late term abortions isn’t about protecting life, it’s about making parents who are already suffering have a worse time of it.
