UPDATE: The transphobe Ada has been defending says they misgender all trans women/NBs on Blahaj who are strangers - Blåhaj Lemmy
lemmy.blahaj.zoneFurther information on the situation with the transphobia: Abigail has
repeatedly misgendered me and defended her choice by saying she chooses to refer
to all people of unknown gender as male. > Hey, Abigail here. I just want people
to know the reason this person got banned is likely because of a deleted comment
not included in that thread. OP called me ~~autistic ~~ mentally unwell for not
liking politics. THAT kind of behavior is not acceptable on lemmy.blahaj.zone,
so I reported the comment and let Ada handle it. Ada tried in good faith to
reason with OP but it was clear they just wanted to fight. So yeah, they got
banned. Ada’s a fantastic lady who’s been great at keeping the trolls at bay. >
Edit: and the bit about me misgendering them is also wrong. Gender didn’t come
into play until after I had left the conversation. English default on the
internet is male for strangers. Source:

them of autism for not liking politics, further info is available here:

not surprised:
Multiple people calling you dude/man/guy I bet they dont tell people they had sex with a dude/guy last night unless they are gay.
the user mewtwo is a reactionary asshole who states that anyone who disagrees with them is not really trans/queer/POC denying their identity because they disagree
the user assuming everyone is male on the internet is a clear-cut case of transphobia and simialr to mewtwo gatekeeping identity based on if you are the right kind of political.
Don’t worry I’m sure they will get a stern talking to by Ada, real great community she is developing over there.
Ada’s going to be shocked when she finds out the user I told her was being transphobic is a transphobe. How could she have known, why didn’t anyone tell her!? /s

South Park brained “nonpolitical” “centrist” chuds also like to say “dude” and piously claim that it isn’t gendered.
“Hey everybody,” has been my default for a while now. I don’t understand what’s so hard about making that the norm for some people.
If I want to be a bombastic show-off on stage (which I like to do sometimes!), I’ll open with, “Welcome, one and all, to… THE THINGY!”
This isn’t rocket surgery. Even an old asshole like me can be inclusive with next to zero effort.
I like “Howdy, folks 🤠”
“Hey y’all” for similar cowboy effect
Alternatively:
Surely the precise meaning of words like dude, guys etc. is dialect and audience dependant? Use of English can very considerably just across the US and more so internationally.
