I drove through the storm. My son had a game, which they called around 8:30 due to the dangerous weather approaching. Driving 45 minutes for a trip that would normally be 20, was the scariest thing I have ever experienced in my 30+ years. I legitimately thought I was going to die. I couldn’t see the hood of my vehicle, let alone the roads. The rain was like nothing I’ve ever seen. I kept veering off of the road, because I had no frame of reference. I just kept screaming “I can’t see! Oh my god!” The power was out all around me, so no lights. We took cover at the high school after the bus came back for almost 30 minutes. I am not religious,—at all—but in those moments, I prayed to myself that I somehow survive. Terrifying.

I’m in Belleville and that one was close. Luckily it didn’t hit us, just lost power.
