I’m confused, are they sure Desantis and the paper are talking about the same people? It reads almost like satire with the amount of assumptions being made. Did I miss the direct correlation somewhere?
What I took from the article is, the story that Desantis told is a well known anti-abortion story. I gather that because they say it’s been around since before Rowe vs Wade. He got the name right, but changed the facts of the story to fit a more up to date narrative.
As someone that has had a partner that had to make that tough decision. I can tell you that his story is already fabricated just from the details gleaned from this article.
First, almost all abortions involve taking 2 pills. That’s it. No surgery. No vacuum. It’s 2 pills. You take one at the office, and one at home. It’s done.
Second, they DO NOT let anyone go back with the pregnant woman. The reason for this is they want to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that she is not being forced to do this by someone else. Grandma never would have been anywhere near an aborted fetus.
Had to do some more digging, but I couldn’t understand why the article insisted that the paper debunked the story about Penny. The detail I was missing is that it was actually her nickname, and not some case of mistaken identity. Thanks for helping to clear that up.
The estimated number of abortion survivors, according to a pro-life source I saw the other day while investigating this, is around 86,000, worldwide iirc.
I doubt there are that many Penny’s in Florida who could be counted as such, so I’m interested in what assumptions you feel are being unfairly made.
And to note, abortion survivors are further evidence of the need for access to safe and effective abortions.

“Abortion survivors”? Wtf is that bs term
It’s what happens when abortion is outlawed and home attempts are dangerous and ineffective.
