Recently revised Pentagon policy allows for autonomous use of lethal force. In test later this year, combat drone will be asked to chase, kill simulated target, coming up with own strategy for mission. Second program’s goal is Air Force that is more unpredictable and lethal.
The last time they tried this the UAV decided that the operator was interfering in their goal so it adapted to try to kill the home base because the operators were telling it not to destroy targets, and all it understood was “killing targets = good”.
Can you link the source? I recall the last time that story popped up, it was a hypothetical situation that someone was saying in a conference, not something that they observed either in practice or a simulation.
Looks like even the original article I could find was updated to state that it was a hypothetical.

Apparently it was a story told by an Air Force colonel at an aeronautics conference, who later retracted it.
Nah, it’s real, there’s a documentary: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stealth_(film)
This is really hard to believe even without an article saying it is hypothetical lol
