Keeping up with news? Use a news aggregator instead. Professional networking? LinkedIn etc. Socializing with people you already know? Signal, WhatsApp and so on. Entertainment? Newsletters. (Note: This is a “gifted” link that should bypass the paywall.)
At least the MSM is recognizing Mastodon.
Disappointing they frame Mastodon as a single site with a few thousand users as opposed to a federated network with millions of users. It sounded rather dismissive to me. Like yeah there’s this open source project that’s been trying to catch on for years, it barely has any users on it.
That would be admitting that the centralized net that they helped build and continue to perpeutate isn’t the only possible way to communicate.
Yeah, although I wouldn’t be surprised if the reporters are just clueless as opposed to malicious.
