Cool to see an article in a large media outlet about Fedi. I wonder whether the federation aspect and instances are soo difficult to grasp as portrayed, though. Sure, it’s another step before getting started which took me a day or so to decide but it’s not difficult per se, is it? Maybe a good filter who signs up. I mean if one is not willing to put in the barest minimum of consideration, why switch from birdsite at all?
@Greenpepper@grob If/when Mastodon becomes more popular, at some stage it’ll become a political battlefield just like all the mainstream (social) media. But I hope the federated nature of Mastodon can help mitigate that .
In all honesty I suspect that the majority of people that migrated from Twitter will leave within a couple of weeks. With that the problem solves itself. The same happened back in April when the news arrived that Musk wanted to buy Twitter.

Couldn’t agree more. I couldn’t bare to see Mastodon turn into Twitter with all the toxic comments and negativity.
