Yeah honestly I’m kinda tired of European hypocrisy. They love to yell at us for having an amerocentric worldview but they do exactly the same thing. It’s simply not viable to rely solely upon a motorcycle when you live in an area where it’s not uncommon to go from intense snowstorms to 80 degree weather within the span of a few days. Doubly so when the roads are often old, forgotten, and poorly maintained. The rural areas around me have tons of pot holes, and that’s when they are even paved at all.
They cannot fathom a world where you can drive over 100 miles (~161km) between major population centers, or drive just 50miles(80km) and go from a low laying lake to a mountain chain. Texas alone is larger than the entirety of France, and you could fit the entirety of Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg inside New York State and still have space remaining. I’m in northern NY and it’s almost the same distance to drive from my area to NYC as it would be to take the chunnel and go from London to Paris by car, and unlike London to Paris there is no train nor any direct plane route between my area and NYC. The only option would be to drive the entire way.
Sure America could do better, but the common refrain of “lol just walk/bike/train bro. Lazy murcians” is as stupid as us Americans yaking on about Europeans.
