Lol I hardly believe that’s the case. I grew up in a Pennsylvania suburb and even after 8 years of living in the same house, we barely knew our next door neighbors.
Now I have since lived in small towns and cities that have more of a community feel, but by and large America doesn’t really know how to do community.
And familiarity is a foundation for trust.
