Quite convenient to charge and takes much less space this way

I actually own Steam Dock but it’s always plugged into the monitor, keyboard and all that jazz. So, this light dock is something to carry around the house when I wanna put the Deck firmly on a flat surface

    Thank you 😊

I must say it’s well worth the price. I’m over the moon with it and just wish I had more time at home to spend with it 😇

As a general recommendation, consider getting either 512GB (if you never repaired hardware of a console before) or 64GB if you’re a seasoned tinkerer (and plan to upgrade the NVME anyway). The space fills up in a snap when you get so many awesome games 🥲

@leif I see. I was looking to get the middle priced option (cannot remember the specs, so I am not sure if it’s the 512 GB, but it sure has an NVME). And also as it has SD card support I plan on getting a shit ton of those 😂

Initially I was on the fence, so I also bought a middle priced option: 256 GB.

Now I’m looking to upgrade to 2 tb nvme (no matter the cost haha). I’m a bit sad that I will have to let this current 256 GB NVME just uselessly laying around since I probably wouldn’t be able to sell it - so it’s a bit a waste of a purchase.

I also like SD cards - I absolutely love the option to upload BOTW on 16 GB SD and plug it only when I decide to play it (I already finished it once but I still come back to it from time to time). Having about 6 GB of free space at any point in time, those additional 16 GB feel like a gasp of fresh air haha

However, recent years I had been burned off with the quality of SD cards, so now I’m no longer cheapen out on the storage

All in all, if you’re on fence like me, just squint your eyes looking at the price and get yourself 512 GB version. You’ll be very glad you did it once you start using it

@leif I see. However I never seemed to have any issue with Samsung EVO cards, and I’ve got plenty of them. I have one in my phone rn and I never had an issue. I also got one for my camera and there’s also a spare one that I have 😁

Besides that, it’s only Steam games you keep on it, which are mostly synced to the steam cloud. If one breaks you just get a new card and you redownload the games to that one.

              Am I missing something? 😁

The emulation games and non steam games are also a big part of my life 😅 and they aren’t synced with steam so any loss of saves is fatal…

I had a Switch for years, so a lot of nintendo games are very dear to me still 🥹

I wish Steam would do more light and casual games to play after work! I’d gladly buy Animal Crossing and Zelda once again just to have the saves synced to cloud automatically 🙏

@leif oh, I see. I have some non-steam games as well but since I mostly play on Steam I guess I can keep those safely on the internal storage, haha 😆

There are Switch emulators on Flathub though, if I recall correctly.

EmuDeck emulates everything I would ever want and to my surprise as a complete novice in emulation, I managed to get everything working on the second try 🙈

Walkthroughs for Deck are amazing 😌
