I still have a 2012 Samsung HD TV, I was thinking about picking up an Apple TV HD(The model from 2015) since 4k is not a big deal for me. But I was wondering, is this Apple TV slow at this point?
I still have two in use here. It’s not as snappy as the newest 4K, but it’s still a solid unit.
I have two, and it is fine, not great. However, you have to wonder how long Apple will continue to support what is currently an 8 year old device with updates.
I wouldn’t buy one today at any price, and I’d go for one of the 4k models, especially if you can find them on sale. You can always move whatever model you buy to a newer TV as you upgrade.
If you’re very price constrained, look for a used model for dirt cheap.
I have one still in use and it’s ok, I would not buy one at this point in time though. A used 2017 4K model would be a better choice if you are looking on the used market.
I’m still using the 4k 2017 one. Still getting the latest updates. The only feature I personally am missing out on is eARC.
I’m still using 3 of the 2017 4Ks, one 2021 one 2022 and the 2015 HD.
Upgraded to a 4K a few months back. Yes, it’s quite a bit faster than the 2015 HD. I always have mine completely powered off when not in use, it boots WAY faster than the HD. Only niggle I’ve had is an occasional difficulty re-acquiring WiFi. (The old HD was always ethernet connected.)
Does not decode 4k uhd x265 smoothly on infuse on that gen. I ordered a current gen 4k apple tv, hopefully it will decode ok on that one.
Yes the current gen you ordered will have no problem decoding x265 with infuse. I do it on mine almost every day.
Mine is working absolutely fine
Get the 4K, it doesn’t matter than your TV is 1080p. They lowered the price to 129$ buck on the last refresh which is basically the price of the HD when it was still sold (99$). Unless you get it for basically free I wouldn’t bother
