Libraries are so important as a source of information for the community. Criminalizing books that are vital resources for children just because they have LGBTQ+ content is crazy.

Hopefully the librarians can win this battle.

EDIT: The title was auto copied from NBC News, and I don’t think “explicit” is the right word, removed it from the title.

As an aside, the best way to support your local library is to utilize their services. A lot of them are adapting really well to the digital age too and offer some really cool services as well. I think later today I’ll write something up for the !literature@beehaw.org community.

And fuck any politician that screws with libraries for political points. They’re doing huge damage that will last generations.

Agreed, a lot of them offer awesome digital services like Kanopy for free movie and TV show streaming or free audiobooks through Libby.

I love Libby and Kanopy so much! Also Hoopla but my local libraries don’t have as much on there that interests me. Some libraries also have seed libraries for gardeners, tools to borrow, 3d printers to rent, free passes to local museums, etc! I love them so much. I can’t afford to buy nearly as many books as I want to read every year so they enable my hobby to be affordable and accessible.

I tend to read ebooks from the library, but when I purchase a book I’ll usually grab it in physical format. Thanks for the tip though, I’ll look into that site!
