Hey all. So with reddit seemingly dying, I am trying to figure out a decent way to recreate the reddit widget I use to get gaming news on my home screen with rss feeds. I mainly see news links from r/games, r/nintendoswitch and r/ps5 on my widget right now

I contemplated using reddit’s rss feeds to kind of recreate the widget information, however I have found the details it gives to be lacking.

I am not 100% sure if I just am not properly using the feeds, or if I’ll need to look into actual news sites to get what I want.

Below is a little picture of what my widget currently looks like. Any suggestions on how best to get something similar spun up when the API dies?

I’m not sure if you’re on iOS or Android from the screenshot provided but on Android you could try something like RSS Widget (on the Google Play store) you just add in the appropriate RSS feeds and name them with a title/header and it presents a similar widget on your device.

This gives me an idea to try and make one of my own for Android! That was the only one I came across that seemed halfway decent during my search.

Yeah I’m on android. I’ve got a couple rss widget apps. Just trying to figure out what websites are best to use to get the same kind of news, or if there’s a way to make the reddit rss feeds look better, because they’re pretty bare bones as far as I can tell (I may be just doing something wrong, I am quite inexperienced with rss feeds)
