The fact that you’re asking these questions and treading a fine line that could be truth or trolling that I’m having a hard time figuring out signals to be that you might not be a good fit for our community.
Please be on your best behavior around here. If that’s something you can’t commit to, then this isn’t a good fit
It’s problematic. Plenty of instances host illegal content, and you don’t want that liability as an instance admin. Other instances do things that abuse the network, like post unmitigated spam.
In that case, it is probably because Mander hasn’t indexed the community yet. For that to happen you have to enter the address of the community (like example.org/c/some_community) in the search field (upper right corner desktop, expanded menu mobile), then it is fetched and you should be able to subscribe there.
while filtering under communities on mander.xyz. If it gives back nothing (Instead of “no results”) after 10 seconds and a couple tries that means you were successful at indexing it. Then you can access it through
It’s inherent to the architecture of the system; you can spin your own instance and not have to worry. People can still block you however.
It’s different than traditional social media, and for people looking for something identical to that but open are going to be hard pressed to have something usable.
The technical aspect of spinning your own server will be prohibitive to a lot of people unfortunately, but there is some documnetation online for that
Well, how can I get a feed that I myself curate? If this isn’t possible, I don’t see this thing taking off.
You are gonna need to self host or be abject to someone else’s rules.
Is there no instance out there that has full freedom so I can put whatever I want in my feed?

If you really want an instance that does not block any other instance (at the moment) check out https://mander.xyz
