r/guitars and many other music related subreddits have strict rules against self promotion. If you post a link to anything you’ve created, it gets removed before it can see the light of day. I’m thinking we should allow self-promotion here as long as it’s guitar related. If you’re excited about something you’ve played on guitar, whether it’s a bedroom jam or a link to music you’ve released on streaming services, I want to hear it.

I can see how it might get out of hand and annoying if there’s a lot of traffic, but in a small community I think it would be fun to share and listen to each other’s playing.

What do you think?

I think it’s fine as long as it’s tasteful and sparks discussion. As someone who records, but doesn’t really care or want to make money on it, I’d love to just share my stuff and talk about gear and process used to do it, ask for tips etc.

This is actually one thing I would really like to see happen, along with some possible collaboration and stuff. Like most of us just do this for fun and cause we love it. Most of us probably don’t have many ppl in our lives that feel the same way about music we do.

    So yea I agree 100

I agree that self promotion is a good thing in a small community. This can always be revisited if the traffic buries useful and thoughtful posts.

Yeah I fully agree, self promotion is a big part of the fun of a community. It’s always cool to show off what you’ve been working on, or to just share what you’ve been listening to.
