I was excited for the update but a little worried about the lack of “core” content (new biomes, mission types, weapons), but after playing a lot this weekend it’s very fun and feels like a bigger update than expected. The new bugs add a lot to variety and make the game a lot more challenging. Me and my friend who rarely had issue on Hazard 5 before are getting our asses kicked, it’s very fun and refreshing.
Good to hear - after so long the game can feel a tad easy. Deep Dives used to be difficult but now I need to play EDDs to “feel” anything lol
Lots of great stuff in this update! New beers, a new section of the Space Rig to test out the new minigame, JET BOOTS sporadically found in missions, and a bunch of new enemies. Really having a lot of fun diving back in - Karl would approve of this.
The Jet boots I picked up only once so far. I was already bad at that Minigame when it was a thing back in the arcades. The time it takes me to get the boots is not worth it for me. But I must admit that expanding my Drillers abilities to get closer to the Scout by having the option to kill myself due to dwarven stupidity is quite amusing.
I had a friend that would constantly teleport out of the map when hit by the new scorpion enemies. It was funny at first, but then annoying when she had to leave and rejoin multiple times. Love the randomization beer though!
A lot of great stuff added this season - the new aliens are great for variety, but the stingtail seems quite buggy at the moment. Hopefully they will balance its drag power a bit so it doesnt insta-kill you when pulling you from above. The new jet boots feel kinda underwhelming in terms of usability. It feels like they are more meant for going up than traversing open pits and going for A to B horizontally, which is a shame. The downtime on the boots is also way too long imo.
The weapon balance updates has made the driller more playable in terms of secondary viability, but the focus should really have been on fixing the other 2 weapons than the subata gun.
I was honestly expecting a new mission type this season, but I think that will be season 5 where the conclusion of the Rockpox story will happen. I am unsure how they will ensure replayability with such a mission though, when considering the lore in the game.
