They have not been defeated and have pushed back the rebels. In fact, I know someone who is traveling to Addis Ababa soon, so the danger in the capital has clearly passed.
These videos can be informative, but ultimately I don’t think his analysis is good. His basis for this entire video was that Russia wants to occupy all of Ukraine, and that they are failing to accomplish this. But there is no indication that was their goal. The goal has always been to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, and for Ukrainian neutrality as a buffer state between NATO, as well as for Ukrainian recognition of Russian ownership of Crimea and of the Donbas republics sovereignty.
