I’ve never been much of an audiobook person, switching back and forth between physical copies and e-books depending on the situation. However on a recent road trip my wife and I started listening to Mistborn on Audible together.

We’re now a few chapters into Well of Ascension and I have to say it’s been an amazing experience, and has really enhanced things for both of us.

It’s fascinating getting to hear real time takes on different characters and scenes, as well as theory crafting. Some not very accurate, some right on the nose. We’re currently on chapter five of WoA and…

after a second recounting of Vin’s mother killing her sister and piercing Vin’s ear, she wondered aloud if that might have something to do with how much more powerful than a normal mistborn Vin seems to be.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with listening to the Audiobooks with someone? The biggest issue we’ve encountered is finding ways to break up sessions when getting close to the end of the book, even listening on 1.2x speed the Sanderlanche of The Final Empire is still 4-6 hours long.

My partner and I play audiobooks every night when we go to bed. It’s a great way to relax, and it helps for the Cosmere because hearing it so much makes it easier to catch clues and come up with theories

I haven’t listened to the traditional audiobooks but listened to the graphic audio versions and have really enjoyed it. My wife and I listened to Warbreaker and she liked it a lot. It seems graphic audio can be pretty polarizing but the full cast of voice actors makes it enjoyable for us.

Definitely fun listening together, it can be hard discussing when I already know what happens especially when a theory is mostly right and I want to elaborate but can’t because I don’t want to give anything away.

Yeah, with theory crafting it can be pretty difficult. My favorite question, especially when she’s on the right track, is just “What makes you think that?” so I can feel out what she’s picked up and what she missed.
