    I can’t get too upset with this. Invoking the Emergencies Act is a major thing, and not well tested in the courts. But it was also a necessary move at the time. All the local authorities were failing to act appropriately and a situation which was allowed to get out of control was promptly brought back into control via it’s use. It’s unfortunate it all came to this, but knowing that certain members of the opposition would try to make as much hay of this as they could, I can understand wanting to make one’s case bulletproof.

      And it’s not just about making a case.

      Sometimes you want to consult a lawyer to make you’re following the law properly.

      And yeah invoking the EA is a big deal and you want to make sure you dot the i’s and cross the t’s on something like that.
