The childcare bill passed unanimously but it was a Liberal bill
So far the Liberals don’t want to enact his policies. The CPC has generated many bills since 2015 and I don’t think any of them passed.
Why should he give the Liberals any ideas well before election time? His party isn’t governing, it’s not his job to come up with solutions.
People should be taking care of themselves and each other voluntarily, government intervention shouldn’t be necessary.
Look back in history, governments have always ruled citizens to their own benefit rather than the benefit of the citizens. There’s no reason to think this has changed
The government shouldn’t be subsidizing people or corporations
Massive pressure on housing is being introduced by the fed itself (via immigration and banking regulation), and the fed shares a massive responsiblility in all the social programs (most notably healthcare) that were downloaded to the provinces in the 1990s by Jean Chretien.
The fed is directly responsible for many of these issues because of actions taken over the past 30-40 years, why should the provinces be responsible for fixing it?
Uhhh… people who work for their money? Or do you enjoy lighting your money on fire?
If you’re poor you aren’t flying to begin with
I had expected our government not to completely fuck future generations.
The provinces have no control of criminal law
Neither did the gun bans apparently
What should basic airfares be based on income?
The other issue being that the BoC can’t do legal policy change like the government can.
The BoC is using what tools they have available. Unfortunately, without cooperation from the government none of those tools will work.
People should literally “weigh in” before getting on the flight. I’m tired of overpaying to compensate for fatasses. Some component of your fee should be based on weight and if you weigh more when boarding you should pay an extra fee.
There’s a lot of services we could do without to be honest.
Interest rates are also basically the only major lever the BoC has. At some point the government has to step up with changes aimed at reducing inflation, and so far they’re nowhere to be found.
The payment is your time. I use whichever checkout will get me out of the store faster.
Military employment is only up about 6% since 2015, nowhere close to the 40% of the entire public service.
The public service was still too bloated at the end of Harper’s tenure.
It can’t possibly only be the job of the central bank when the government can effectively print money backed by unsecured debt.
Inflation will only end when people run out of money to (over)spend. The BoC is doing their part by making debt cost more, the government is acting in reverse by handing out more and more “free” money which enables people when they would have otherwise run out.
