Eternity hasn’t been updated in 4 months, in that time Lemmy itself got some really nice features like scaled sorting and instance blocking, but that’s not something that we can do yet since there haven’t been any updates
If the current developer simply doesn’t have the time to put out updates, that’s alright, I want to know if there are any actively updated forks because Eternity is otherwise an absolutely killer app, I adore the customization especially!
Unless there’s a big update on the horizon, and afterwards updates become more regular and implement new technologies officially supported by Lemmy, in which case it’d be nice to have regular betas released publicly (I’m actually part of the apps beta program on google play, but that hasn’t been updated either) or otherwise posted about on the main sublemmy
I’ve met a couple other Eternity users in the wild recently, and our consensus is the same: We like the app, alot, but wish it was updated every now and then
If there aren’t any updates soon, and development will stay at this silent pace, then I’ll probably just try out and use the other foss apps out there
Whatever the case, I still thank the eternity devs for what they do!
You can install the Nightly builds from the F-Droid Repo if you are greedy for updates, keep in mind they may be more unstable.

it does allow PRs but none have ever been submitted apparently. it needs more attention :(

None of them have recent updates.
That’s usually what happens with FOSS. The problem as I see it is that the dev doesn’t have time to update the app and there’s almost no one stepping up to hel fix longstanding issues. I’m pretty sure the dev will be more than happy to see people submitting PRs to fix some issues with the app :)
It’s actually very functional with a few minor bugs. It doesn’t really need updates.
What features are you thinking of? I, personally, can’t see anyone’s posts when clicking on their username and it’s really annoying. Already thought of looking into the source to see if there’s an easy fix.
Notifications to replies are entirely broken for me. I wouldn’t call the app done
Eternity felt a lot like Thunder to me with less options (at the time). Maybe try that? Only thing I didn’t like was no mark on read when scrolling, so I made a PR a few days ago for it.
The latest commit on codeberg is literally from yesterday. What more do you want?
All latest commits are mainly translation updates. If you ignore those it feels like there is no more commits. Or I am not looking where I should?
