You can’t look at this and tell me that coffee isn’t a drug. Lol. My stoner buddy has a set up just like this…except, bongs, vaporizers, several grinders, several jars of resin, a dab rig, and a ceramic knife laid out in similar, almost reverent positioning.
All jokes aside, it’s a beautiful setup. I’m jealous. We just do a French Press and that’s good enough for me at the moment.
So true! It all started with a $30 hand grinder and a Chemex, and it has grown to this. Luckily, the espresso machine seemed to finally scratch the itch and I haven’t felt a need to get anything new or upgrade anything since then. Between coffee, photography, and custom keyboards, I have enough expensive hobbies.
Well now you need to show the keyboards
Is the fellows kettle worth it?
We have a 5 piece vacuum storage set, a few of their mugs, and I’m always half in half out on. $200 kettle
It is expensive for sure. If you are trying to make better tasting coffee, not at all. A few degrees won’t really make a difference in the final taste. Honestly, I got it because it’s probably the nicest looking kettle out there. The money would be better spent going toward a better grinder IMO.
I have what I’m pretty sure is an Amazon clone, $30 and going strong in its second year of daily use…
The per degree temp control is a huge win along with the spout. Itll also stay warm for 30mins, optional beeps when done heating, and you can have it boil water automatically for a specific time. I really enjoy mine.
I could wish the build quality was better for the money, but they pour great and the temp is accurate. It does a weird thing where it kinda sneaks up on the correct temp…so it gets to, say 210F really quickly then takes forever to get to 212. Overall positive and it beats the crap out of my tea kettle for v60.
What issues do you have with the build quality? I have the one with wood accents, and as long as I use some wood oil on it occasionally I don’t have any issues.
Yes, that is unfortunately the trade off. I’ve seen some others that get up to temp super fast, but they overshoot it and you have to wait for it to come back down to your desired temp. For me, I prefer it slowly getting where I need to go rather than having to wait for it come back down, but that’s just me.
Beans 😏

Amen
I can look at this and tell you coffee isn’t a drug. It’s just a great way to deliver the action drug, caffeine!
And here’s my coffee station.
That’s a really neat looking setup. What espresso machine is that? It’s beautiful.
Thanks! Mean bean is correct, it is the Quick Mill Corola Evo! I was hesitant to buy it at first because I couldn’t find many reviews, and the reviews I did find were for an earlier model that is no longer being sold. I’m glad I went with this one, as I don’t care to have a steam wand (I bought a Brevel frother to take its place). This unit focuses solely on the espresso, so for the price it is very good at pulling shots.
My internet searching pulls up a Quick Mill Carola Evo.
Oh god, that is beautiful
If we started doing #CoffeeStation on Lemmy, then we’ve arrived.
Now that’s a morning set up! What do you usually make in the mornings?
To drink, it usually just depends on my mood. Sometimes I just use the v60. For espresso, I usually make latte’s with oat milk. The oat milk gives a nice nutty flavor that I love. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll add some white chocolate and go for a white chocolate mocha.
For beans, I’ve been loving Fellow Drops. Haven’t gotten bad beans from them yet!
Why not just have a French press?
I do not enjoy having money, but I do enjoy drinking coffee.
This is more fun.
Proceeds to make Folgers in a drip coffee maker. Refuses to elaborate further. Leaves.
I feel so inadequate - I just have a French press!
Don’t feel inadequate! Coffee is coffee and we all start somewhere. Our love of coffee is what brings us together, not the amount of money we’ve spent on equipment in pursuit of the perfect cup. Oddly enough, a French Press is the one brewer I DON’T own lol.
The Niche! Good choice
Thanks! I didn’t like the idea of wasting coffee by purging between grind setting changes. I was skeptical of the supposed “zero retention”, but it is true. I feel like for it’s price point it’s a great grinder. Anything more expensive and I feel like you really start to get into the territory of diminishing returns.
Usually the more money you pour into a thing the better it gets at one aspect of it which could be really important for some but probably not very important for most. As for the retention issue, I’ve found spraying some water on my coffee beans right before grinding significantly reduces retention. Disclaimer: I use a hand grinder (1ZPresso J-Max) but I’m sure it would work for other grinders too.
A fellow 1ZPresso user! I have a JX Pro and it was my daily use grinder before I got the Niche. After I started making espresso, I had a hard time dialing in the grind on the JX Pro. It seemed inconsistent, one shot would be perfect, and the next would be horrible with nothing else changing. I had been wanting something automatic for a long time, and decided to go with the Niche. I still use the JX Pro when I go camping, since the carrying case is great.
Very nice. Missing a setup of syrups though.
Nice!
That there is a beaut clark.
What brand is your water heater? Been looking for a good one
That kettle is a Fellow Stagg
160 EUR … jesus
Yes, it’s very expensive. Definitely not needed, but it sure does look nice. Being able to dial in an exact temperature is nice. You can also play snake on it!
I have the same one. Mainly got it for temp control for white tea and figured having per degree control was a huge plus. Plus it’s so nice artistically
Personally, I think they are way over priced for what they do and just use a Bonavita kettle. But as a coffee roaster, please keep spending money on fancy gear and beans, it pays my rent.
Why is it not in order tho
Fits well this way. Gives me space to prepare the v60 and not feel cramped. Also, the cord for the kettle is insanely short and I never bothered to buy an extension cord to be able to move it, so it only reached the outlet sitting on that end.
