Got another friend who is no longer allowed to recommend me anime. Adventures in a Big Mysterious Hole full of monsters sounds cool but this looks sus as hell.

The first episode is absolutely disgusting (in a bad way) and I still hesitate to recommend this show because of it.

Which sucks! Cause I guess this show is actually good? I like the characters and the romance and the monsters, but holy shit that first episode was so bad for something that is actually becoming pretty enjoyable.

Resin printers mean extra post-processing (gotta wash the excess resin off in alcohol, trim the supports, then cure in a UV box. Then chemical disposal is complicated) but you get higher detail.

But! Fdm printers are getting much better at this too! A well tuned printer (tuning your printer is a whole-ass hobby, be warned) with a 0.2mm nozzle (or a Bambu* basically right out of the box) will work just fine for most cases.

*Look these things have proprietary firmware and that sucks, but it’s as close as we have ever gotten to “my printer is an appliance that just makes what I want with no fuss.” Don’t bother with their expensive filament, it’s no better than the cheap stuff and you can completely ignore their microchip system. An A1 mini is barely more expensive than an Ender 3 (which used to be the go-to cheap ass printer) and is the smoothest and fastest printer I have ever owned by a good deal.

Anyone have experience with getting a passport? I changed my name many many years ago and don’t know if my parents still have the court order, but I haven’t changed my birth certificate because I didn’t think it would be relevant. All my documents are in my legal name except for the birth certificate.

My state allows amending my birth certificate but it’s a several month long wait and my family wants me to get this all done before anyone has a chance to fuck up the process.

Probably varies by state, but involuntary commitment is a whole legal process with hearings and judges and a right to testify and all that jazz.

You can look up court records to check. Maybe not in your case cause you were a kid, but if you get involuntarily committed as an adult there will be a court record of that.

If you’re depressed and cops show up at your door and make you go to the hospital “voluntarily” under threat of being committed, that doesn’t count. Even if you stay a while “voluntarily”. If you get taken in for a 72 hour “observation” hold (5150) but then the doctors let you free, that doesn’t count either. If you didn’t have to go to court or at least face a judge, you weren’t committed.

Super easy if there is a club nearby. Most will have loaner equipment while you get started. You’ll eventually want your own mask ($75) and glove ($cheap, I used a gardening glove) at least, and then probably your own jacket and sword (like $50 each).

I took it as a class in college, and outside of club tournaments everything was super friendly and casual and mixed-gender (cool and good for trans people). And yeah, really fun.

I want to get into HEMA cause I did fencing in college and still have most of my gear and smallsword and rapier look fun, but I just know I would want to buy a whole new outfit with those brightly colored poofy pants and sleeves and that gets expensive fast.
