This is one thing I rarely seen brought up in discussions of nuclear power. If every building had its own power source, then the grid no longer becomes a viable target. Funding for national security should go towards putting solar on every rooftop.

A “rare” 150-year-old signal box could be restored if plans for the work to upgrade it are approved.

Network Rail has applied to the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) to improve the “poor” condition of the signal box at Bootle, near Millom, in Cumbria.

Work would include repointing of the structure, which is by the level crossing at Bootle railway station, rebuilding the chimney and removing redundant equipment.

Planning documents said the building, which was built in 1874, was a “rare surviving example” of the Furness Railway Type 1 signal box.

Network Rail said a recent inspection identified several issues and the work would enable it to preserve the signal box, which is considered a heritage asset.

The LDNPA is considering the application.

What do men fear most about women? Being embarrassed by them. What do women fear most about men? Being killed by them. Until this changes, men have a lot of work to do. It’s on all us men to fix that. We’ve prided ourselves as being brave and strong, so surely we’re up to this challenge.

Even if both men and women are both capable of evil, that doesn’t mean men and women have done the same number and level of evil things throughout history. I’m willing to give them a shot at taking the lead for a bit.

I’m more than happy for women to take the lead in society for a couple hundred years. We could learn a thing or two from them.
