Just think back on AOCs post about why people voted for trump, it was mostly politically incoherent but not an overwhelming “trump is our savior and everything he says is good” rhetoric. Same for people who voted him in 2016, they didn’t like Hilary enough and trump said things unprompted. His group of zombies isn’t as strong or large as perceived.

Say what you will about maga but some of them pay attention to what politicians are doing, hence the drain the swamp rhetoric became popular. I think once changes go through and material conditions do not improve, most likely worsen, they’ll be looking for names and heads. I don’t think all of them, the rest will cheer on whatever since they’re just fanfolk, but some of their idols are turning on trump already and all he did was pick the terrible cabinet.

I’m also not in community with open maga folk but if I come across any, I’ll be diligent in letting them know trump is rebuilding the swamp they originally hated.

Been seeing some screeching from the Maga side about trumps picks. They’re seeing it’s not as anti war nor anti establishment and they deluded themselves into thinking. I wonder how big the maga fallout will get and what they’ll do about it. So far I saw jackson hinkle, alex jones, and Candace owens pushing warnings about the administration, though it could also be because they weren’t picked for it.

On one hand, I thinking trying to “get” people on pronouncing her name wrong is just a way to do a gotcha because there’s nothing else. On the other hand, I do recognize pronouncing names correctly is important. But the most important thing is if people correct themselves after being corrected then that’s the end of the conversation. You’re not automatically racist unless you’re intentionally mispronouncing or butchering it completely to be funny.

There was discourse on tiktok where a white leftist called out democrats and Kamala. Kamala liberals then went on to smear them for being racist or whatever. Then other leftist, including POC, came to their defense because they were right. I don’t think people changed their minds after but even if you’re right, you’ll have to be strong enough to take whatever backlash comes, even if wrong or in bad faith. The people who are open to dialogue will follow.

I don’t technically think it’s good to self censor but if you need to talk around something for people to understand better then by all means do that. Ask questions and make it a conversation, if they’re dead set on holding onto liberals then move on, it’s not your fight.

Never talk down on BIPOC people either because then it’ll be harder to defend you. You may know more than SOME but lived experience is a bitch, dismissing or undermining that will backfire.
