You forgot the leaking pipes, so of course everything relatively safe to touch is also wet and cold.

Why does this remind me of foot binding
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When do you finally calm down after buying a house?9·6 days agoCongratulations! May your new life as homeowners bring you happiness!
Make sure you know where the water shutoff valves are, and that the electric breakers are labelled. And do not, I repeat, DO NOT start any DYI project on a Friday afternoon.
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your method of enjoying (or at least tolerating) physical exercise?21·26 days agoYou’re right, thank you for pointing it out. I’ll change it.
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your method of enjoying (or at least tolerating) physical exercise?82·26 days agoExercise outside (preferably in a natural setting) and with a group. Outdoor bootcamp is the holy grail for me. Reasons:
-
Outside air is easier to breathe than stale gym air
-
There’s always something interesting to look at while you slowly die
-
Clumps of grass don’t mind if I swear under my breath
-
PEER PRESSURE. IT WORKS.

At the end of the training session,
traumabonding with the rest of the group (edit: I misused the term trauma bonding)

What if only people who make over $500k annually can vote? Is that still a democracy?
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do movies always get wrong about your job/hobby?20·29 days agoHobby: Telescopes upside-down or back-to-front, pointed through windows, with aperture caps on, without eyepieces, under heavy light pollution and glare, magically show Hubble-level images of something only visible from the opposite hemisphere.
Job: The Government knows everything about you and any employee can pull up any info on anyone in seconds. Ffs we can’t even get two departments to cooperate on a common database format.
stelelor@lemmy.catoHome Improvement@lemmy.world•[Weekly thread] How is everyone doing with their home improvements?4·1 month agoWe have a shit-ton of projects on the go and zero free time (and energy). So today I decided to pay $6,000 and have someone repaint part of the house exterior. We don’t have the time, skills, or tools to do it ourselves, and it will buy us some time until we can properly address the underlying issues.
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do movies always get wrong about your job/hobby?6·1 month agoAnd loon calls in totally the wrong biomes, even continents!
stelelor@lemmy.cato [Migrated, see pinned post] Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•What clothes do you wear round the house and would you wear them outside?English1·1 month agoI have separate house clothes: old or stained tshirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, leggings, shorts. I work in an office with a dress code, and at home I have a toddler and a dog. I change as soon as I get home to minimize the chance of accidents on my nice work clothes. That said, I do wear my house clothes outside for yard work, dog walks, or quick shopping trips (depending where I’m going and with who lol).
Paralives! Because fuck EA for ruining The Sims (among many other games), it’s time for a good competitor. Plus, they’re from my city!
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I got more than I bargained for, how do I fix? TW: suicide2·1 month agoThank you, I saw your exchange and now I understand what was meant.
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I got more than I bargained for, how do I fix? TW: suicide2·1 month agoAah I saw their comment and your reply to them. That makes sense, sorry for the misunderstanding.
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I got more than I bargained for, how do I fix? TW: suicide41·1 month agoSorry for butting in, but you wait “until things get serious” to tell people you’re into them just for the sex? I really want to give you the benefit of doubt because you’ve been respectful and articulate so far, but do you honestly not see the problem here? Why not just use Tinder for hookups?
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What made you realize your parents aren't good people? /srs16·1 month agoI knew they were shitty to me and my brother, but rationalized most of it as being the product of a different culture and time. What really sealed the deal was finding out how shitty they were being to my elderly frail grandmother who was living with them. They made her last years on this Earth so miserable. I have lost all respect for them, I will never forgive them, and I’m glad to be hundreds of km away from them.
stelelor@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the dumbest tattoo you have ever seen?21·1 month agoDepending on how thick the line was, maybe it was a cover-up for another tattoo? (or a group of tattoos)
Google knows the real world is a dystopia.
For some reason I picture it as having really droopy jowls covering those canines. Like a mastiff on steroids.
stelelor@lemmy.cato You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Regulations don't exist because governments like them...17·2 months agoExcellent idea! I’m sure that information will be readily available from independent trustworthy sources that are not the government! Failing that, I always have my trusty mass spectrometer in my kitchen and I run all my foods through it just in case!
That makes sense, that it would be your subconscious alerting. In a similar vein, whenever I know I need to shower first thing in the morning (as opposed to before bed), I often dream of showering on the bed. Yes, like standing on the mattress on top of all the sheets and pillows and blankets. Or at least somewhere in the bedroom, like on carpeted floor next to wooden furniture. I HATE those dreams so much but they keep happening.
