Sweet Home Alabama, possibly the most famous country song has the following verse: Well I heard Mr Young sing about her Well, I heard ol’ Neil put her down Well, I hope Neil Young will remember A Southern man don’t need him around, anyhow Is a direct response and essentially “fuck you” to Neil Young’s song “Southern Man”, which was calling out the horrors of slavery in the South.
