Newly-elected Speaker Mike Johnson gave Americans a glimpse of his "worldview" on Thursday night while fielding a question about homophobic remarks he made.
So much this. A lot of atheists assume fundamentalists will never be convinced otherwise, but that’s wrong. There are plenty of examples right in the atheist community of formerly devout Christians becoming atheists (just for two examples on YouTube, Drew of Genetically Modified Skeptic and Paul of Paulagia).
What won’t happen is convincing them in a single conversation. It can take years to break through, and some of it has to happen on their own terms. The last step for me was because I actually followed through on making an honest effort to read the bible completely. My faith didn’t survive getting through Genesis.
