Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders said Sunday he doesn’t know that a ceasefire is possible in the Israel-Hamas war with “an organization like Hamas” involved.

“I don’t know how you can have a ceasefire, (a) permanent ceasefire, with an organization like Hamas, which is dedicated to turmoil and chaos and destroying the state of Israel,” Sanders told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” Sunday.

Yeah, it seems fairly obvious that an organization dedicated to expelling or murdering every Jew in Israel will never agree to a permanent peace. Other Palestinian groups need to win the internal fight before there can be some kind of settlement. Hard to convince people to moderate their position when Israel bombs a bunch of schools and mosques, though, so the cycle continues.

I mean, look, in the USA we have organizations dedicated to expelling or murdering every black person in our country, and you know what we don’t do? We don’t say that it’s OK to murder white people until those organizations cease to exist.
