As of Thursday evening, r/PICS had dropped the NSFW designation, along with r/military.
Incredibly disappointing, but I’ll wait to hear their explanations and new plans of action.
The mods keep saying they’re staying to protect their users, but they should be off boarding to another site if they really care. They have already lost the power to take care of their community, they’re already bending to reddit.
If you keep your group on reddit you just want mod powers on a popular site, you aren’t protecting anyone. I just can’t accept “i care enough to stay and keep my power to obey reddit admins” is so weaksauce.
I still don’t get what “power” they think they have. I’ve modded a few subs and there is absolutely nothing that couldn’t just be overridden by Reddit IT staff. You’re literally using a company’s software that they still have full control over.
Reddit is going to continue to operate under the delusion that the mods are holding them back. The next year is going to be rough with the rules they are going to enforce on mods.
