tl;dr from the article:
What you need to know
- The FTC is trying to stop Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for almost $69 billion.
- After having a preliminary injunction denied, the FTC appealed the decision to the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, appealing the decision and seeking injunctive relief.
- The injunctive relief, which would’ve extended the existing temporary restraining order, has been denied.
- Microsoft can legally acquire Activision Blizzard in the U.S. very shortly.
Hey y’all. While I didn’t see anything in the last thread about this that warranted removal, I would just like to remind everyone to be(e) nice, and remember there are other people on the other side of the screen. Please try to keep console war bickering to a minimum, and if you want to engage with other users, remember to do it in good faith. Thanks <3
As expected. I’m eager to see how everything will play out. I’m happy Kotick will finally be completely gone, but I’m not happy about consolidation.
Precisely how I feel about it, too. I’m glad ActiBlizz employees will hopefully have a better working environment. Plus, I can play WoW again without supporting a human-sized scrotum. 😁
But the sheer size of Microsoft at this point is a bit alarming. It’s like watching Disney buying Marvel and LucasArts: a looming giant that will either fall or trample everything underfoot.
At the time I was excited about the consolidation of Marvel IP and what it could mean. Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic 4 all under one roof? Exciting!
Now, I’m so burned out on all of it I just stopped watching. They went so hard to get ALL of my time that they now get none of it.
I can’t wait for Diablo 4 on GamePass 🤷🏻♂️
I’m excited for CoD to not be a $70 gamble on whether or not the game is good. Like, 2019 was pretty good, 2020 was great, 2021 was bad, 2022 was bad, 2023 is most likely going to be bad, and 2024 is most likely going to finally be some good CoD again. It’d be real nice if I just had access to this via $15 subscription day one.
And speculative pipe dream hope: Activision has a load of currently unused IPs that I’d love to see Microsoft bring back.

Blur 2 would be pretty cool IMHO
