I decided earlier this year that I’m not going to let extremist groups appropriate beloved symbols any more. If we do that then they’ll take everything. They’ve already completely changed our emotional reaction to the national flag. So, I’m going to continue associating symbols to their original meaning, and use them regardless of extremist appropriation. If everyone did it then they would fail. So, I’m going to fly a flag this 4th of July. That’s the symbol of my nation, not the alt-right.
Just to be clear though, for any conservatives reading, this doesn’t work the other way. The Gays have actually scientifically removed the concept of God’s promise from the rainbow. It’s ours now.
