ID: tis the season to remember that activated charcoal can render oral birth control ineffective
I thought you were trolling at first, but nope, this is legit.

Not sure why anyone would troll about something like this, but also never trust random people on the internet, especially on medical advice, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for adding sources

This and your other comments in this thread make me concerned for you. There are a LOT of real, actual, existing human beings that delusionally think that tricking someone into pregnancy against their will is a morally victorious action, by any means necessary. They don’t concern themselves with such pleasantries as “good faith” statements. They are a minority of people, but not by much. Please look after yourself and don’t underestimate the evil that organized religion is capable of.
Except this post is literally the opposite of trying to trick someone in to getting pregnant.
Maybe keep your concern, and instead invest the energy in better reading comprehension?
The article you link to does not show any effect of activated charcoal on ovulation in women who use oral contraceptives. Not saying it’s a good idea to eat charcoal, but the study didn’t find an effect.
Activate charcoal is very common medicine to fight gas and/or mild intestinal discomfort. Very effective when my farts become too noxious and I need to debloat…
Was it TMI…?
Had a cousin eat some spooky bread and found out the hard way what going cold turkey off her depression meds felt like. It was a rough couple days to get her back to baseline.
Ooof, that’s bad, could potentially be fatal. Take care out there, fellow medicated people!
Since when do people eat activated charcoal? Am I missing something here?
It’s frequently used to make food appear black. It has some legitimate uses but food shouldn’t be one of them.
used to make food appear black.
just one question: why??
Halloween
because black drinks and food look so tasty…
Do you know what Halloween is…?
yes, we decorate our homes, dress up as spooky creatures, eat pumpkin related foods,… and apparently some people consume stuff that contains activated charcoal? for some reason?
People make bowls of eyeballs (peeled grapes) intestines (spaghetti) and chopped fingers (hot dogs). Spooky foods are a staple, and so is the orange/black color scheme.
Capitalism
I don’t think capitalism is to blame for having Spooky Food at a Halloween party.
Can you expand on this?
Yet another dumb trend that completely passed me by.
That article needs a rigourous editing from someone that doesn’t think crystals can purge toxins.
Crystals can remove ingested toxins from the body if you shoot them out a cannon at someone and blast their stomach out.
Since they started giving birth orally.
Pukebirth sounds like a band name.
Why burn your food for that harsh crunchy texture? Just eat activated charcoal instead, no need to spend all that time and money burning food, just pure taste sensation!
Years ago it was a trend to put activated charcoal in stuff like toothpaste and milk based coffee drinks.
Still is for toothpaste at least
Do you guys not take it against gas? That’s a common item in medicine cabinets where I am.
I use simethicone for gas.
How does someone give birth orally??
Through the mouth, duh
How are you at least the 3rd person so far to make this unfunny joke?
Low-hanging fruit is the easiest to grasp, and there’s a lot of easy graspers online
You know what else is low hanging?
Yo mama’s tits?
Bong with the thong orangutan biggie titty
this isn’t medical advice, but activated charcoal pretty much absorbs everything. don’t take it the same time you take a pill if you want that pill to do anything
And grapefruit can screw up various medicines! Not that this really applies to October. More in general.
There’s stuff out there that can just make the pill ineffective? You’d think this would be known more widely.
There are several. Grapefruit is another example that comes to mind.
And I agree, these things should be much more widely known. But now you know!
Grapefruit has bad interactions with a lot of medications for some reason
It has a chemical that is a potent CYP3A4 inhibitor - it basically turns off the enzyme that metabolizes a good chunk of medicines.
Earl grey tea has it too.
Another big one is antibiotics. I can tell you that none of my doctors when I lived in Texas mentioned it. It just slips their mind…
Y’all been adding activated charcoal to your drinks? I mean, dyed sugar is the only other thing I can think of to have that same ‘look’ to it but still, if all my garnish options sucked I’d just pour the drink without a garnish.
Good for you. Plenty of others do consume it though (you probably have too, without realising. It isn’t just added to drinks like the photo might suggest), and I’m sure they’d appreciate the heads up.
At first I thought this was about blowjobs.
Ok, I will try to consume less activated charcoal 🙄
O.o. What’s with the brackets around the A in aware?
Be ware (because spooky)/be aware (because PSA), it’s just a play on words…
I swear I’m never going near the stuff, lest I’m fully committed to giving oral birth!
