Trump is winning all these states and look at the percentages. How?

Edit: many news agency are calling PA for Trump. So we are truly fucked.

The DNC has fumbled the bag to an epic degree. You are right that this should have been a slam dunk, easy win for the DNC. Unfortunately, the DNC also thought this race was easily won, so they just stopped trying.

The DNC made overtures toward conservative voters. “We’re gonna build the wall” or “we’re welcoming the Cheney’s into our coalition”. They needed to run on hope and change to activate low propensity voters. Instead, they ran on harm reduction without offering to change things for the better. The message was, “Trump is 100% Hitler, vote for us because we’re only 90% Hitler”.

The least the DNC could have done was lie about doing nice things.

Blaming the DNC has gotten stale and boring. Kamala couldn’t have run a better campaign in how little time there was, she still nailed it. At what point do we just admit that most of the public is just too braindead?

She nailed it? You mean like how for 8 years she thought the border wall is a stupid idea and then suddenly she pivots into “yup, we totally need that wall”? Or when she got all buddy buddy with the likes of Cheney when the core democrats loathe Cheney? She had time to appeal to the republican voters but not to the 16 million voters who voted for Biden and not her? She had plenty of time to nail her campaign and she didn’t.

And I’ll just add this as a non-American. It’s a very American thing to think election campaigns have to be long, because they are long in America. She got over 3 months to campaign and that would’ve been enough time in most countries. Just to give some context: Mexico’s president campaigned for 93 days, Canada’s last federal election was 36 days, Australian president campaigned for 36 days, India campaign was 33 days, Brazil was 90 days.

For cunts like that commenter, never. In a sane world the voters were always to blame. They are the ones who fucked us like this twice now. I hate America and no longer have any hope for it at all. Fuck this place.

In a way, the commenter you responded to already did. People act where they think their actions will do something. You might push a heavy wagon; you probably wouldn’t push a mountain.

They’re distributing blame among the actors they know they had a chance of improving.

The DNC is at fault. Either they should have had Biden not run again at all or not backstab him to get rid of him so late.

Fuck off. This isn’t about the DNC, this is about half of our fucking country being actual goddamn Nazis who froth at the mouth in excitement at the idea of victimizing women and minorities.

All this election has told me is that half of America is a literal shithole and people will always be more hateful than hopeful.

I don’t even know how the fuck we come back from this.

Because the country, the political climate, literally the voters themselves are different today than they were in 2008. Hate is a disease - it grows and spreads, and it has been actively been cultivated and stoked to great effect ever since 2008. Unfortunately it’s also a snowball running down a hill; if you don’t stop it in time, it becomes unstoppable. And we missed the chance to stop it.

The electoral college majority voted for Hitler

All indication is that the popular vote went for him too! America is now officially a fascist country. They’re about to have control of not just the Presidency and SCOTUS, but also both houses of Congress. And they will continue to control a majority of state governments.

Naww, people don’t like Hitler shit. The average Trump voter has been tricked into supporting stuff like “mass deportation”, but once you ask 'em about specifics, they are not on board.

The problem is that the DNC didn’t call any of this stuff out. The Democrats should have constantly asked, “How are you gonna do mass deportations of 20 million immigrants? Are you gonna kidnap people from their homes? You gonna put them in concentration camps at the border? Tattoo numbers for easy organization?”

The DNC failed in their messaging of calling out the Hitler shit, instead choosing to adopt the Hitler shit. “We’re gonna build the wall to keep bad immigrants out. We’re gonna deport the bad immigrants who are here. We won’t build camps though, only because that would be economically unfeasible.”

To add to this, I saw a Fox News exit poll during the day where immigration was brought up as a topic of concern. About 55% of responses were in favor of making immigration into the US easier while 45% said it was a concern and should be made more strict. The Democratic party lets Conservatives control the narrative and are surprised when their appeasements fall short of expectations within both parties.

No way blue turnout is even marginally higher and any possible red votes go to zero.

The US as a whole is simply irredeemable. The want blood, and they’re going to get it.

We increasingly live in social silos, if you are not a Trumper you will not know about the frequency of the messaging or even its nature most of the time. Like it or not Trump’s words speak to the average American, his speeches align with the explicitly nationalistic, racist and generally hateful nonsense that most of them have been drip fed over the course of their lives via media, religion and education. It brings them a sense of comfort.

Turnout was at record highs. So the problem wasn’t “activating low propensity voters”.

The problem was that those voters were already activated, and they preferred Trump.

The Stay At Home Party is humongous every election. They represent a giant source of potential that the DNC keeps ignoring in favor of trying to sway some Conservatives. The DNC is picking at crumbs when almost half the cake is sitting on the table.

Kamala was a great candidate, and they did activate voters that wouldn’t otherwise have voted.

but a national, historical conservative program of voter suppression plus the judges they’ve appointed over the years is difficult to circumvent.

I mean, also apparently enough Americans like rapists that voter suppression matters.

Such a bullshit comment. There was an interview of an elderly woman who said she had switched to Trump from voting democrat because he had built things like his hotel and casino and what the US needed was a builder. People are getting stuck inside of their social network bubbles and not bothering to look outside, while we are also enabling the manipulation of social networks on a whole other level (Elon Musk, X) instead of fighting disinformation and bringing in the sort of controls that television networks once had to be liable for.

Guess Democrats think they can survive a second Trump term. Maybe all that wealth they earned was enough to sell us off. They are about to get a rude awakening. If Trump wins I hope he keeps his promises and hangs rhem first.

I want to wipe the smug smiles off their faces. We better be ready to fight. Because there will be no more elections after Trump wins. Bet you that.
