OpenSecrets.org is there for your disposal. Use it! Think about businesses you use regularly, products you buy, artists you watch or support. Chances are likely they have a profile on OpenSecrets and you can see who they support. I for one am planning to move my brokerage out of Schwab who donated overwhelming to Republican campaigns and maybe move my insurance to Progressive (not just because of the name, their employees donate significantly more to Democrats).
The weight of billionaires is behind Trump but at the end of the day money will drive his decisions. Taking money away from his donors takes money away from him.
Some very interesting findings digging through contributors:
- Mitch McConnell’s biggest PAC donor manufactures Jack Daniels (guess I gotta find a new brand)
- Bernie Sanders took no PAC money in 2024 🥰
- Alphabet (Google) is the largest organizational contributor to The Lincoln Project

Something to consider about Bulleit are accusations by the founder’s daughter of sexual abuse and the company itself for firing her due to homophobia. Obviously there’s no way to know for sure and both her father and the company deny it, but we all know that means absolutely nothing since they would deny whether it’s true or not.
Not saying don’t drink it, but it’s something to be aware of if you care about those things at the very least.

There is an app that makes it really easy to figure out what brands contribute to republicans vs democrats and also gives each brand a scored based on how likely shopping there will lead to campaign finance reform. It’s called goods unite us. Openscecrets is great and much more detailed but I think most people in my life would rather install an app with a button that tells them where to shop for groceries and that’s what goods is.
I’ve already gotten myself a Costco membership because they’re the only grocery store near me that’s both cheap and doesn’t give oodles of money to republican and conservative PACs AFAIK. There’s other stores I’m planning to switch to but yea I figure groceries are the most inpactful thing I can change right now.

Overall you’re probably best sticking to a credit union that doesn’t donate politically at all (as an organization) but in my experience they’re a noticeable downgrade in quality.
Sorry, I was thinking of banks not investing. Couldn’t find a ranking but Vanguard seems to lean Democratic.
Edit: Damn. Digging deeper it looks like most trading companies are fucking cesspools.
Edit: Another point for Vanguard: the current CEO has a history of contributing to Democrats.
