A lot of things that run in families and larger genetic groups are, well, genetic. That’s an indication that genetic factors might be at play, not a proof that they are - let alone a proof that “alcoholism is genetic”. As per Wikipedia: it’s complex, but “Genetic factors account for 40–60% of the risk factors for alcoholism.”
