I hate myself for knowing this, but in the West Wing a bunch of neo-Nazis try to assassinate the president and successfully shoot members of the secret service and the West Wing staff. Afterwards, said West Wing staff realise they can go after all the neo-Nazi orgs those guys were affiliated with via the IRS and courts and basically sue and bankrupt them into oblivion (which is rather facile, but hey this is ur-lib fantasy). The president decides that the neo-Nazi organisations must continue unhindered because suing them or collecting their taxes would be ‘seen as revenge against our political enemies’ or some bollocks. Even in their fantasies they can’t help but give Nazis who tried to kill them a break.
I can understand leaving some abcesses alone because they’re benign enough that removing them can inflict more harm than it would help, but these were malignant tumors. Anything and everything is on the table when providing treatment.
