I am honestly amazed that there is no completely FOSS printer existing that runs on libre firmware and is build from 3D printed parts. I wonder how hard a project like this would be?
Ok, check out this Discord. I’m the person that was tasked with designing a printing head that can be 3D printed. If anyone reading this wants to chime in, I can return to work too, and some more help and ideas would be appreciated.
Btw, there is no patent currently active on the most common inkjet printing mechanism that I’m aware of. Other people in the Discord seem to agree. Anyway, this will use a different design, and the code I wrote for my ongoing solid state lab project.
Sounds awesome! I‘ll check it out.
I think the priting head/ink mechanisms are prob proprietary. I’ll see if I can find those modules on aliexpress or something. I was looking to use Misumi PM (permanent magnet) stepper motors in an experimental 3d printer. They tend to use those in printers I remember…
See this comment. It’s not necessary to help, but I believe it’s a good idea to gather together people with the same project, especially since some joined a long time ago and we can share ideas :)
Another argument why printers should not be connected to the internet.
This is the youtube iceberg guy innit?
Whats the story there
Just a youtuber who does videos on those iceberg pictures/charts a lot.
