Trying out Loops for the first time. Thought this video was a good one.
Good job, dad! She’s doing great.
Thank you! This video is from about a year and a half ago. Hoping to get another couple of seasons out of this bike before we get something bigger. She’s already asking about a gear shifter.
I bought a kick scooter to accompany them when they went on their first trips on sidewalks - it gives you the right speed, manoeuvrability and height to grab them the moment they steer into cars or traffic or other people walking by. On your own bike you are too high and too far away to intervene fast enough.
When they get bigger and can tour with you it’s very, very nice - they can go much farther than one might anticipate. Pack enough food - cycling drains energy fast. Have fun :)
I’m still nervous about letting her ride near street traffic, so that is good advice.
I have a vivid memory of my mom teaching me to ride with no training wheels the same way. I felt so fast.
I remember my training wheels fell off and my dad put them back again and the next day they fell off again, causing me to fall. I’m wondering if my dad did a purposefully bad job putting them back on now that I think about it.
I followed my cousin’s example of using a balance bike and skipping training wheels entirely. I can’t recommend it enough.
This was wicked cute
Thank you!. My wife filmed it and her commentary still sends me.
