Will you talk to my bosses? They’re addicted to arbitrary KPIs and rank & spank.
Did you mean “screwed more bigly”?
The only problem I have gaming on Linux these days is anti-cheat on a couple titles. Everything else is seamless already. The steam client works just as it does on Windows.
My home couldn’t possibly be improved any further!
Chicagon here. Indiana is 100% the south.
I eat far too much avocado toast to save for retirement or college. I’m happy to spend my twighlight years drinking myself to death under a highway overpass.
Never heard of this, but it sounds really neat. Can it actually replace ddg in my daily life?
CumBroth and oldfart, thank you for being internet heroes. Soulless is the best.
You have the choice of whether or not to register with Google and use the play store. My wife and 5 year old require simplicity, so I registered.
Android TV is a little different than Android on a phone. Not every Android app is compatible, but most are. It’s just like a chromecast.
So any play store app like Hulu, Netflix, Disney+ etc will work just fine, as will plex / jellyfin.
I have a hardkernel station m1 running android TV. You can set up with or without the play store, I did mine with. It’s great. The main control is a remote from the couch.
It uses flauncher for the 10’ UI and runs tivimate for iptv. I added a cheap nvme drive for dvr functionality. Other apps include stremio, YouTube, steam link, retroarch, vlc, etc.
If you are lucky enough to have a microcenter near you, go in and talk to the person working in the maker section.
I picked up an ender 3 v2 dirt cheap as the new versions were rolling out, and I have no regrets.
Someone else said these are not good beginner printers because they’re sold in kits you need to build, but that was a great way for me to learn about the machine. Yeah I had some crappy prints in the beginning, but that was part of the process.
Ddclient has done the trick for me, and my registrar supports it with an API
This looks pretty safe to me!
I use slackware btw. Doing work for the computer is half the fun.
But I did learn something here, so thanks for that.
I use ddg to search for things in my area all the time. I just use near <zip code> instead of near me.
I’m not google free though. I pay for YouTube premium and have a couple Gmail addresses.
I was on xfce for a long time due to having low power hardware. I got a decent computer around the time kde plasma came out. I tried it and have stayed on it.
I hate gnome with every fiber of my being.
My daily driver for ~25 years is still on sysvinit. I have plenty of experience with systemd based distros. I run proxmox on my home server. I don’t hate systemd, but it’s a lot less intuitive for me.
Example: I want to start the tailscale daemon and service at boot. Easy, add it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local . Oh wait, I want my laptop to check for an internet connection before trying to bring up tailscale. Otherwise the boot process halts for 20 seconds until it gives up. Easy, add a bash script in rc.local to test for an internet connection before trying to bring tailscale up.
I know the answer is systemctl something, but I have to look it up EVERY DAMN TIME. and this is just one of many things that have been giving me heartburn for years.
I think they’ll all get their companies to pay for security details and armored cars. It’ll make them feel even more self-important.
I found soulseek after Napster went away, and I love that it’s still going all these years later.
