Hey so I googled the steps. I guess we gotta form committees, mobilize, raise public awareness, I got the syllabus. So like how do we get this thing going? Are there organisations already working on this or do we gotta grassroots this?

I’d urge you to organize your workplace and form a union. You can contact organizers at the AFL-CIO (a kind of union of unions in the US) and find which union is right for your workplace. If you don’t work but are still able to do physical or intellectual labor, start getting as involved in your local community as possible… volunteer at food banks, after school programs, nursing homes, etc. The more people you can reach out to and help or with whom you can organize the better. If you cannot do those things due to personal issues (disability, etc), do what you can in encouraging others to take these steps. You have a voice here on the internet (at the very least), educate yourself as best as you can on how folks can help one another and encourage others to take these steps.

A massive action like a general strike isn’t just organized over night by total strangers… it takes communities with common cause and familiarity with one another. Realistically, if anyone is calling a general strike, odds are it’ll be like the United Auto Workers kicking shit off. Maybe the railroad folks or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, but more than likely the UAW will lead the charge.

You’re on the right track asking “how to” and that’s great! Organizing is a rough road, but it’s vital and worth it… the more people doing it the better in any capacity. United we bargain, divided we beg.

Just to note, in a few years theres a convergence of when the major union contracts are up for renegotiation, so they’re already planning for a general strike. So it sucks having to wait until may 2028, but do what you can to get as many unions off the ground and onboard in the meantime. Getting any new unions going would probably be the most impactful thing you could do regardless of if there is a general strike, as it increases the negotiating power, and anyone not in a union is in a really difficult position if and when a strike does happen.

You would need a large union org like the IWW. Organizing this sort of thing as an individual or from the grassroots in quite difficult.

Workers aren’t what’s most important anymore.

    Consumers/investors are

So stop buying shit you don’t need, stop buying the same stocks Pelosi does to try and make money.

If you want to hurt the corporations destroying our country, stop giving them money, don’t stop taking what little they pay.

I mean you can try sure. But i am convinced that boycotts do not work. Part of the consequence of allowing duopolies, or even monopolies is there is no getting away from it. And the stock market has never been more hostile to the individual investor… unless you mean everyone should empty their 401k?
