Damn, what the hell. That’s a huge L for a governor that’s been good up to this point. What could she be thinking?

The conciliatory tone is a shift for the governor, who clashed with Trump during his first term. He called her “that woman from Michigan,” criticized her COVID-19 pandemic response and agreed with his followers’ chants that she should be imprisoned.

Whitmer had previously said Trump was “complicit” in a right-wing militia plot to kidnap her by stoking extremism. She wrote in The Atlantic that she and her family faced “a surge of vicious attacks” whenever he publicly attacked her.

    ???

Is she being blackmailed or something?

And it’s not like she’s running for re-election, there’s no reason she shouldn’t take the gloves off

An extremely disappointing lack of leadership from our Governor, imo. You’d think she, of all people, understands the importance of fighting back.

Exactly this :/ we need to come together and make a proper third party, win local municipal and state elections, and re-localize our economies giving power back to small businesses and employee co-ops, giving people here an alternative to multinational corporations so they aren’t forced to have give Walmart and Kroger money because they’re the only places to get essentials. At this point there’s nothing redeeming left with the Democrats as they kowtow to Trump’s coup like Chamberlain with Hitler, and business as usual has become rapid fascisization with barely a token resistance from the “opposition”.
